Unpaid internships still exist

 

Despite the era of voicing our opinions about unpaid internships, they still exist. And, although it is a bittersweet situation, many college students and recent graduates are willing to take that opportunity to gain experience needed for their resume. There are many fields that are hard to break into and having some sort of network and connections helps with the process of ultimately finding your dream job, especially with the experience gained. Gaining powerful connections can land a person in a great place.

May 10th, 2019 11:59 PM Pacific Time

What’s the projected timeline for the scholarship program?

  • Application Opens: April 30th, 2019

  • Application Deadline: May 15, 2019

  • Scholarship Recipients Notified: May 22nd, 2019

  • Scholarship Checks Issued: May 29th, 2019

What are the selection criteria?

An independent selection committee OUTSIDE the Your Corporate Black Girl Team will evaluate the COMPLETE applications and select recipients considering:

  • Financial need

  • Essay content

  • Detailed application

  • Reachable contact information of Points of Contact

Decisions of the selection committees are final and are not subject to appeal. No application feedback will be given.

What are the details of the award?

Awards are subject to need and based on circumstance. Because this is a worldwide scholarship, currency exchanges to the dollar vary by country. We are hoping to reach more students based on the donations we receive this Spring 2019.

The scholarships will be applied to transportation costs such as but not limited to bus fare, train fare, Uber, Lyft, carpool services, etc.

Is this scholarship renewable?

No.

How do I know if my application is complete?

It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the application is complete. Please draft answers to questions on a word processor before inserting answers on the online form.

What if I am awarded? What do I have to do?

A followup email will be sent to you with instructions. This includes but not limited to an image of the applicant, an unofficial transcript (for identification purposes. GPA not required), etc.

How and when are checks issued? 

Because the scope of this scholarship program is worldwide, awarding will be based on convenience for the applicant. A follow up email will entails details of what is the best way an applicant can be awarded.
